The Application of PET/CT in nervous system(图)

1.Localize the epileptic foci and evaluate the operation effect.
2.Early diagnose the pre-senile dementia and Parkinson disease.
3.Early localize the transient ischemic attack and cerebral infarction. assess therapeutic effect and predict the outcomes.
4.Cerebral receptor imaging.

PET/CT examination has a remarkable advantage in the localization of epileptic foci, and
can be used for pre-operative evaluation and localization ofepilepsy, assessment ofbrain
trauma and dysfunction of cerebral metabolism (CO poisonin g),  early cerebral ischemia
diagnosis, cerebral oxygen metabolism images, cerebral neoplastic amino acid
metabolism and choline metabolism images, as well as diagnosis ofpre senile dementia
and for forward researches in the multiple cerebral receptor images in Parkinson's disease.

PET/CT can be used to localize the epilepticlesion.
Fig 1 shows massive hypermetabolism in the right temporal and partietallobe indicating the period of onset.
Fig 2 shows calcification in the juncture of left parietal and occipitallobe of brain with reduced metabolism
in the surrounding cortex, indicating the epileptogenic foci.
